Key problem (Transponder?) V70-XC70

When i bought my -97 V70 i only got one key and one remotecontrol.
Does the -97 V70 has a transponder key?

Must the spare key and remote be purchased from the dealer??

    Before '98, the car is called an 850 (not a V70). The US 850s do not have transponders in their keys and the remotes can be programmed w/o PIN #s or SW.

    The '98 US S/V/C 70s also don't have key transponders but the remotes require a trip to a dealer as Volvos VST (scan tool) is required to enter a PIN #.

    The '99 on up US S/V/C 70s all have key transponders and need a trip to a dealer to have SW installed from their Vadis PC for both new keys and new remotes.
