I need some clarification about tires S70

I've been searching for a while now, and I'm a bit confused about tires for my 1998 S70 T5M, will 215s rub?

So if I want 215s, would I be okay with 215/55/16, or would I want 215/50/16. I'm thinking 215/55/16s, but I want to know if those will be alright with my stock wheels and there won't be any rubbing.

Any recomendations? I'm thinking about A/S by the way. Maybe some Pirelli P6 four seasons?

Any help is apprecieated.

Not true Frank, my 215's don't rub! S70

I have 215/45 17's on with absolutely NO rubbing, I also have IPD springs, so I'm even a little lower. I'm even going with 225/40 18's on new R wheels in about a week, and those may rub, but...

Our S70's have a little more room than the 850's do, 205/55's even rub on my wifes 855 turbo, but to say that any FWD/AWD won't accept wider tires....

Your speedo will be off with either size, but I'd go with the 50 series. It will tell you your going 61.01 when your actual speed is 60, but no biggie there. But more importantly, with a smaller sidewall, you'll get a little more clearance from the inner wheel well.

You can try this for the different sizes and speedo error. http://www.sgmotorsports.com/tiresize.htm

Wider than normal tires for any FWD/AWD Volvo will rub on the inner fender liners and not only will the noise bother you, it'll burn through the plastic eventualy and the rubbing can't be good for the inner sidewalls of the tires either. Get the recommended tire size.
