850 Crusie Control doesn't work 850 1997

I am new to the 850 section of the bickboard site. Just purchased a 1997 850 GLT wagon. The cruise control doesn't work. It will not engage at all. I checked fuse # 28 and it is OK. I am pretty good on 700/900 crusie controls but don't know anything about the 850 crusie control system. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

leon,

There is a vacuum line that runs under the battery tray.

It may be cracked or have a hole in it. This is the most common reason for cruise control failure.

Remove tha battery and tray. If the line is bad, you can splice in a new piece. Just take it to the local parts store so the diameter can be matched.

850 Crusie Control doesn't work-Fixed and thanks 850 1997

Dear Bryan,

You were right! Thanks a big bunch. The vaccum hose under the battery try had gotten battery acid on it and rotted through and into. Spliced the hose and put it all back together and it worked. Thanks tremendously!

Leon,

You're welcome. I'm glad it was an easy and inexpensive fix.

It looks like you're a major supporter of VCNA.

Bryan
