I need your opinion S70 1998

Hi,

I need your opinion. I have save up some money to improve my S70.

1) Should I go with wood-trim or carbon-fibre for the interior trim ?

2) Should I go with the normal leather-wrapped shifter, the wood shifter, or
go for the ones as seen on the S70R ?

Keeping in mind for the above 2 items is that I am planning to install the leather/wood steering wheel as featured in the Y2K Volvo accessory brochure.

3) I have 15" wheel covers right now. Should I go for 16" or 17" ? ... The
parts manager wanted to sell me a set of 18" tire/rim package yesterday for
$ 2,500 Cdn. I know 18" is way overboard for my car, but is 17" overboard
for my car too ?

4) For the front turn signal, should I leave it or/ change them to clear ? ...
I am going to change the factory bulb behind it to PIAA Xtreme White soon.

5) For the headlight bulb, I am going to install Hella Optilux Xenon White in
the following 2-3 months. Is it worth changing the lens to E-code lens or
is it not necessary for just a headlight bulb upgrade ?

6) My factory shocks are going soon. Thinking about Bilstein or Koni. Which
one should I go with ?

Please help !

a Kenny's Mom Sympathizer said it perfectly.

How short do you think our memory is, Kenny? You have this predictable cycle, where you're in love with your tawdry 1998 S70 "GLE" and you attempt to polish the turd, then claim that you've beaten 328s, CL-Ss and S4s with the simple addition of a intake, header and exhaust. THEN you come back and talk about how much of a piece of trash your S70 is, talk about how you're going to get a a BMW/Audi product, then disappear for a few weeks, only to come back and start it all over, with a car that suddenly lost the 8000 parts you added to it. What do you get out of this foolishness?

I suppose it's better than when you used to add new cars to your signature every week. Does everybody remember when Kenny claimed to have a few Benzes, an S80 T6 "executive" AND his tricked-out S70 GLE? How about the Pathfinder he "won" in a contest? I doubt any of us have forgotten about the time where Kenny got burned by the "formerly known as" feature, when he tried to make an alter-ego that could defend his ridiculous automotive claims. He finally capped it off by saying he got a chauffeured S class and decided that he "had driven enough" for his short years, and was going to call it quits. Don't we all wish that were the case.

Say Kenny, how about that time you raced a Del Sol and saw to it that he crashed into a semi trailer?

Hi Kenny,
Sorry for the knot head kennys mom , I guess you cant good info without some misplaced humour all the time.
I would not go with the 18" rims, I would not even go with the 17"s either, I dont like to feel every bump in the road any more than I have to and the bigger the rim the smaller the side wall on the tire, sure they look great but you suffer if you ask me, go with what you think is best for you, and then you wont have anyone to blame if you dont like it.

Don't be too hard on Kenny's Mom, he/she has probably been around on this board for the past two or three years and heard these questions from Kenny before. As a matter of fact (according to Kenny and my sometimes suspect memory) Kenny's car has had over the last few years, Koni shocks and lowering springs, IPD sway bars, a really nice set of 17" wheels that were curbed badly by his sister, and various other upgrades. His car has miraculously returned to stock for another round of questions. Kenny's Mom can be forgiven for his/her somewhat good natured ribbing. Kenny's received much worse in the past.

PS Kenny, if you're REALLY going to do it, go for the wood trim, the wood shifter, 16" wheels, leave the turn signal, don't waste your hard earned money on the Hella bulbs (buy Philips Vision Plus for a stock look or Philips Blue Vision for a whiter light), get the E-code lenses and the Bilstein shocks.

I have Bilsteins and am very happy with them. I also have the factory carbon fiber dash trim. It looks great but dents easy.

> 1) Should I go with wood-trim or carbon-fibre for the interior trim ?

Neither. Ducttape trim is all the rage in N.America these days.

1. It's fashionable -- you can't buy a new car without exposed bare metal anymore.

2. It's safe. In case of gas attack, you can use it to seal the cabin tight.

3. It's approved. By John Ashcroft.

4. It's economical. Since you don't care about economics, well, at least it's still comical.

Better try Koni. I suspect you may have grown too, uh, linear to appreciate the Bilsteins' wonderfulness, or else would couple them with too firm a spring which would invade and vanquish all that wonderfulness.
