RainX on Windshield Wiper S70

This problem isn't really exclusive to Volvos but thought I'd ask here anyway. I recently applied RainX to my car's windows and windshield (as I have done for almost a dozen years). This particular time, I inadvertently used a paper towel with RainX on it to the wipe the rubber blade of the driver's side windshield wiper. Now, that wiper 'skips' along the windshield as it completes its sweep. It still makes contact with the windshield, cleans evenly/smoothly and the wipers are in good shape (aftermarket blades less then 3 months old) but I'm concerned that this 'skipping' might damage the wiper motor. Am I worrying about nothing? Will the RainX on the blade just wear off in a month or so?

I have tried wiping the rubber blade with rubbing alcohol but it doesn't help. Any ideas aside fom replacing that blade?

RainX on Windshield Wiper S70 1998

    Lara's Uncle,

No big deal ! ... Same thing happen to me recently when I did the same exact thing.

Take a good clean cloth and rub the blade and windshield reasonably hard a few times and it should be fine.

Also, depending on which aftermarket wiper blade you use, some of them have problems with these Rain-X type products. I tried most of the major brands out there since I got my S70 in May 1997; although I never just replace the blade.
Recently, I went with Bosch Micro Edge Excel. I found this to work quite well with Rain-X. Original Volvo wipers seem to have problems with Rain-X type products.

    Hope this helps !
