I just tried to order a Technical Service Manual from Volvo for my 2003 V40 and found out that it isn't available. I would have to buy a subscription service to their on-line system - at mucho dollars - ouch. This is the first car that I haven't had a TSM. Any suggestions?

I've been looking for one myself for my 2000 V40, all I've found s far is the UK manual that IPD sells

Go to Alldata.com and find the DIY button. Subscription is incomplete as compared to VIRA but it will help. $25 to sign up, then $15 per year renewals. The lack of reasonable priced tech info is a great downfall of todays auto's.
