Hesitation on acceleration 850 1993

I posted awhile back that I was having problems with a hesitation when I would start out from a dead stop. I even had my car die on me twice. I had no A2 Fuel or A6 ignition codes. I just had my 120k service about 20k ago so I shouldn't need new plugs or anything. I cleaned the flame trap. I still had the problem but since then the problem kind of went away. Then I filled up with gas the other day and all of the sudden the problem is back. I am down to about 3/4 of a tank and it still does it but it's not as bad. Could there be a reason that a full tank of gas would cause this? Seems very odd to me. If it was bad gas or something I would think that it would do it all the time not just when the tank was full. If anyone has any ideas of what I can check I would appriciate it. My tune up 20k miles ago should have changed my fuel filter but I will probably go ahead and change it anyway.

Thanks

    Hi ya,

Firstly your injectors should not need cleaning as they are "Self-Cleaning" to stop fouling. You could have one of the petrol/gas additives that will clean out the valves etc.

What it sounds like to me and a common problem, recently changed mine too is the fuel pump relay. This can cause the symptoms you mention. the price of replacement is about £30 pounds $50. If this hasn't been swapped yet its a big candidate as my friend suffered badly in his 93 too.

If you step back and assess, independent of codes or not, it sure sounds like a possible fuel pressure problem - i.e. fuel pump. Have you ruled it out?

Hi , my 95' volvo 850 turbo had same problem like yours. But very strange it most happen while the weather & car is hot ( maybe air temp > 30oC , in Taiwan , very humid ).

I had replace the mass air flow sensor ( expansive part , I bought from Bosch distributor for cheaper , about 200 USD ) , the car run much better for months . recently the problem back again .

I had try to verify the oxygen sensor , but seems it is ok but somethings engine error code 2-3-1 happen.

You may also check the mass air flow sensor . And I may back to check my fuel pump stuffs...
