rubber elbow on manifold help 850

I took a look at my vacuum elbow at the manifold near the power steering pump and it has a gapping hole in it. I wish to fix this and looked at bay13.

My question is. Where does this line run to? How much of the line has to be replaced? Is it just the rubber elbow that needs replacing? Can I simply cut the end off and re-insert.

Mike, I'm having exactly the same problem at the present time on my '96 n/a.
From what I've seen, this line you're talkin about, goes to the flame trap holder,(if you brick is a non-turbo).
Like you, I planned on running the new uninsolated line above the manifold but I still dont know yet if it's feasible to do that because there's
necessarily a reason why this vacuum line is merging with the main flame trap hose into that insolated hose. Lower temperatures? That make sense. I'm still investigating.

I ran the line today. Probaly around 9ft of hose. I found the destination which is near the firewall on drivers side. I ran in along the fuel rail which is above the manifold. Before i started the engine i cleared a2 codes. Since I cut the cable I got 232 and 426. Before I cut it I got 425 and 426.
So hopefully that is why I've always received the 02 sensor errors.

Right when I started the engine it no longer revved to 1800rpm.
The connection was very tight location to get your hands into to get the new hose onto. I ended up using pliers to manuvere the hose onto and ti-wrapped the new hose without being visable and keeping it away from heat. I dont know why volvo didnt do this in the first place?!

Besides having a higher rpm: 1500-1600, my CE light did not come on... strange.
I'll have to check out if there some malfunction codes stored in it; I'll need my OBDII scantool to retrieve them, my brick is a '96. On my other brick ('95),
there's no vacuum hose on the side of the intake (near the power steering pump), the vacuum line is going to the vacuum tower right to the flame trap holder. What is the year of your car ? is it turbo or non-turbo?

Its s 95 turbo. There is no flame trap on the turbos.
I believe if yours is a nonturbo you should still have the vacuum line there.
Its very hard to see because it will immediatedly loop back behind the exhaust manifold. You'll need a flash light to see it.
Theres a picture on volvospeed what to look for under bay 13 (vacuum lines)

You do have a flame box under the intake on every volvo, but the turbo will not have a flame box filter by the throttle, Youhave the elbow on the side of the intake, You can just replace that nipple, Its not easy and takes a couple of needle nose pliers. Its easier said then done, I know but im sure code 212 is in your car ( long term fuel trim upper limit) and at idle your car will have a disruption in idle.

Has anyone replaced this vacuum line themselves? I cut the line since it had that big gaping hole in it but by the time I went to an autostore they were all closed.
I'm planning on replacing the whole line with an one from the local autostore.
I noticed the orinal one having an insolated hose merging into a another insolated hose running around the engine under the manifold.
I'm planning on running the new line (uninsolated) above the manifold along with the fuel rail (lower temperatures) and back down to where the old line connects without removing the old line.
