It seems that just because you drive a VOLVO people think u want and or can fix there old one I had a teacher come up to me because his Wife blow up the engine in her 1995 850 and he asked me to find him a new engine so that is what brings me here and then he asked me about install I know nothing about FWD so I hope he takes it someware itssitting at the VOLVO dealership they told him it's only value is to a junk yard man I cant imagane what the would say about my 1982 244

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say or ask here but anyone who wants to (dealer or indy) CAN install a used engine if price is a factor. A dealer will prefer to sell a reman. Volvo engine vs used because one never really knows the history of a used engine.
A Volvo OEM reman. engine is like new and has a 1 yr, unlimited mileage warranty.

As for her Volvo, she needs to take it to an independant. Dealers commonly say yours is rubbish, but we have a lovely 20xx over here.

.......and whether AMD or Pentium (have both here), today both types can easily be found for less than $500. I have an e-mail add where one can get a newer PC with either cpu type (1.7ghz), 256 mhz ram, 40gig Hdd, keyboard and mouse for $299 shipped (complete computer btw). Doesn't mention an OS but that's never a real problem as one can usually get any for free if you know someone into PCs.
The ONLY computers today with outragious prices are Macs and why I'll never know. I even have an older, used Mac running OSX Jaguar and still don't see what Mac users see in those things (and why they're so anti-PC).

It's a cult thing I guess. You don't have to have a reason to hate one another. I like them all. It cones down to the applications one will be using. Macs never have any issues of compatibility in terms of hardware and comes loaded with the programs. On the other hand PCs come cheaper and easy to tweak. I would say it is a matter of taste.

??? we have to buy all kinds of crap for it at work, liscenses and stuff. would've been bank for the average home user to buy the software (for those who don't like burning). and those stupid mac 9 os keeps crashing and locking up. i have to say tho...steve jobs has done a nice job at apple. the new mac os x isn't too bad, pretty similar to windows xp in style. everything is hidden, and not where it used to be....but it is way ahead of what os 9 used to be.

Apple pretty much regulates what exactly you can, cannot use in "their Macs" so that's why most "apple freaks" think they have fewer issues. If Apple allowed as many different manufacturers to make compatible hardware and software, they'd then have the exact same issues as PCs use to years ago. Newer PCs have far less problems today with either hardware or software compared to older PCs from over 5 yrs ago.

I am sorry chuck's post got hijacked. I should have been clearer in my original post. I intended $500 for the upgrade and $1500 for the labour to smash their old PC to bits before turning the hammer on them for being so stupid.
