Antenna not fully retracting 850 1995

When I turn off my radio the antenna does not fully retract leaving the top1/3 portion up. When the antenna reaches this position, the antenna motor stops running. I posted this problem a few months back and received the suggestion of cleaning the antenna which didn't work for me. Any suggestions?

I'm willing to bet that your antenna mast needs replacement. You can get one at FCPGroton.com for about $18 + freight. I just replaced mine this past weekend. I have never done it before and it took me about 40 minutes and now it works fine.

Can you manually press it down all the way?

Something must be bent, or out of alignment. Worse case, you will need to replace the mast piece, but you might try just removing it from the car, inspect and lubricate, then replace if it looks OK. See: http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/antmast.htm

hold up a perfectly straight object next to the fully expanded antenna. if it's bent, use some pliers and carefully bend it back. this worked for me
