A/C goes on and off on its own need assistance please. 850

Today i really timed it the first 5-6 minutes it worked fine and then stopped workign nothing came out of it. keep in mind i always have it on rec air after it went off i tried outside air(rec off) still the same thing except for some low air from the outside took about 4 minutes and came back on for 2 minutes and then off for another 4-5 minutes. after i stopped at the bank and thenleft it actually ran until i got home which was about 15-18 minutes. what can be the problem? please help since i will be selling my 1994 with 53k miles T-5 i need to get e\it working like suppose too meaning A/C and small vibration i feel.

May be cabin sensors

The problem may be with cabin temperature sensors. There are about 4 temperature sensors. Two of them are located, each, near the door jams behind handles, inside roof cloth cover. (Other two are inside the vent tunnel behind the dash board and they may not be as dirty as the other two)

If you take it to the dealer they will replace, $100 or $200 each. They are very nice guys.

I took them out and cleaned all dirt off of them. For the last one year I have used the A/C few times but have not experienced any problem.

The first thing you need to know is "how much 134a" is still present in the system and the only good way to know that is to have someone with an AC machine recover the 134a which then weighs it. Chances are good that you need more 134a (leaks) and if so, have dye installed. The leak might be slow enough for the charge to last a season or two so if selling, you might then be in luck.

it was charged at a volvo shop and it did the same thign as he was filling her up now he said its the control panel that they seem go bad as well not sure if its true or not basically he said replace the whole control panel. as far as sensors i'll clean them but i sure wo't replace them its too much $$ and anyways i don't use auto air i use manual so sensors shouldn't matter right?

specifics? 850

Any codes? Is it ECC (electronic climate control) or MCC (manual climate control)?
When you say "nothing comes out" do you mean that the blower motor stops blowing air or is the blower motor still working but the air temp goes from cold to warmer like the AC compressor shuts off by itself and stays off?

no blower stops no air comes out at all in either modes here's a qoute what a guy said:I then disconnected and reconnected a wire that runs and attaches to a connector that mounts to the side of the compressor body. Bam -- the system runs great now. I think that somehow this connector wasn't seated properly because it didn't look damaged in any way.

info 850

I had my 855 A/C recharged last year and talked the engineer who gave me some info.

1.Some cars automatically start the A/C if moist air is in the cabin and can potentially mist the windscreen up, usually in the morning or wet weather.

2.If your A/C is cutting out when the car is idling then it is more than likely that the coolant level is low. This an be chaecked by the garage.
