When you get the motor out, you may want to check to see if it actually works. Try moving the rod in and out a couple of times and then activate the motor by locking and unlocking the car via your remote. Mine became stuck and after moving the rod a couple of times, the motor started working again. I also removed the cover and re-greased the moving parts.

I would try the above before spending $90.00 for a new unit. The device is actually very simple. The unit consists of a small electric motor like the ones in toy slot cars. It has gears to turn another gear with screw threads on it. The rod has screw threads on it and depending upon the direction of movement. The rod either goes in or out.

I must be in the wrong business. I wish I could charge $90.00 for such a simple part. The COGS on this unit must not be more that $10.00 .

if your 850 it's like my '98 v70, you need to get the plastic panel off inside the cargo area to get to one bolt. Motor is secured by 2 bolts on the outside and one inside.
