My '94 855 has the stock 15" Cetus wheel, currently shod with a (rather worn) set of 195/60 all seasons. Since I took the plunge and bought snows this winter (Gislaved Nord Frost II's - friggin' AWESOME!), I figured I would try to get a little more performance out of my new summer rubber.

What are some size and brand/model recommendations for an improved summer or all-season tire? The requirements are 1) the fit on my stock rims [no budget for new wheels], 2) they can't sacrifice too much in the way of ride comfort [not looking for ultra-low profile here] and 3) they can't break the bank [s/b around $100 per tire or less]

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I can also put in the good word for Tire Rack. Great prices, very helpful reviews. Just bought my first Volvo, a 96 850 turbo sedan, and I am about to order a set of Dunlop Sport SP A2 tires. Bought a set 2 months ago for my wife's Subaru Forester and we have been truly impressed with wet (best tire I've drive on for resisting hydroplaning) and dry traction, and a serious decrease in road noise from the OEM Yoko's from Subaru.

I just put on Dunlop SPs 205/50/15 and I love them. They are very smooth and great in the wet. I paid about $460 installed. It got rid of the6 65MPH vibration.

You should probably look at grand touring radials. If you go slightly oversize maybe 205 60 R15 you will have an incredibly smooth ride. Speedo might be off slightly, but not by much. Micheline M1's or Bridgestone Turanza LST's are high end touring radials. that's what wwe have on our bricks. I got rid of my aluminum rims and now swap tires winter to summer on the winter steel rims. The low profile tires made my 960 feel like a shopping cart.

Nice and smooth, good traction, etc. The reviews were good. At tirerack, you can enter your car info and/or tire size, brands, price, etc and it'll select different options. From there each tire has reviews so you can use that info to help make your choice.
Everytime I order tires from there, they're at my house in a couple of days and in perfect condition.
