855 rear lift struts

Has anyone out there replaced their rear struts on the liftgate? My 97 850 wagon turned into a dropgate this last winter. Great for chopping the heads of waleyes when ice fishing but otherwise an inconvenience. If you have done this yourelf did you need any special tools or need to learn any new four letter words? Thanks for your response.

That link is my post inquiring on how to replace the struts.

I got 2 struts from FCP Groton ( http://www.fcpgroton.com/ ), part number SCA-30-3682 ($18 each). It took me about 45 min to replaced both. It is an easy job. I used a step ladder to hold the tailgate while removing the old struts. The tailgate lift correctly now.
