Just bought a 1998 V70R with the black walnut (plastic) dash trim. I understand that there was also a brushed aluminum dash trim available. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the walnut and replace with the aluminum and also where I could get the kit? Checked with the dealer and they said check the aftermarket.

I had looked for the same thing for my 99V70R and this is what I found out. If you want the OEM parts you need to replace the glove box door the centre console and the console around the stereo, so it's not cheap. I can’t remember the cost but it was high to get all the interior pieces. The trim pieces themselves were not available. I have seen the stick on kits but they do not look near as good as the OEM. I have had my V70R for over a year now and really like the walnut and now prefer it to the aluminum. I don’t think the Aluminum suits the interior of the car.

Check with VolvoWorld (online) and Borton Volvo (online) in Minneapolis. Both have had the factory Volvo kit listed in recent months. Since I believe it is glued on, I doubt that it will be easy but certainly doable.

Check EBay Item # 2412123932. I haven't bought anything from this guy, but at least he has a 15 money back guarantee and it is only $158 plus $13.00 shipping and insurance. A lot less expensive than the dealer!
