Oil Change 850 1995

I just gave my 850 N/A an oil change, and I put in 6 quarts of oil. Is this too much (I don't have an owner's manual yet); is it enough to damage the seals if it is too much?

Thanks!

I saw a few 850 owner's manuals over on Ebay for about $10, worth checkin out. But yeah it takes 5.5 to 6.0 quarts, whatever your dipstick says. Mike

Actually SOME 850's take MORE than 6 qts. Mine does. 6 qts and it barely registers on the dip stick. Closer to 7.

What does your dipstick say?

On our '97 855, 6 quarts puts the level just a tick above the 'full' line.

With a filter it's close enough to 6 quarts. I wouldn't worry about it.

In fact, when I put exact 5.6 quarts the oil pressure light on the dash just lits for a split second when I first cranking the car. And the service manager says they always put somthing in the vicinity of 5.8-5.9 quarts. You should be safe.

The oil level is supposed to be 5.6 quarts. My guess would be, yes you could do some damage, due to higher oil presuure, but don't freak out, just drain some out, or suck it out through dipstick tube.
