Creaking front end V70-XC70 2001

Front end creaks when going over bumps and when turning steering wheel. Didn't see anyplace to lube, no fittings. Have an appt. at South Shore Volvo(never been there before) on Monday morning and would like to go in with some ideas.
Thanks,
Mark

It was the ball joints and it was covered under warr.. Thanks for the tips.
South Shore Volvo was very good, problem was diagnosed and repaired in 3 hours.
They even filled the washer fluid-nice touch.

Are these possible causes covered by warr.? Anyone?

Most likely your control arms (which include ball joints), or the sway bar bushings (not to be confused with the sway bar links).

Hi ya namesake,

It could be several things:-

Easiest is the anti-roll bar links these would rattle of bumps but not turning.

Guess at some loose in the steering sorry to be vague.

Could be a bad CV joint, does it do it on both sides and both direction of travel, left and right?

Could be a bad balljoint and does the noise come from both sides. IF you jac the car up and move the wheel from the 3 to 9 o'clock several times and then 6 to 12 o' clock do you feel and play ?
