oil under 20v cover plate 850

The other day I pull to the cover off to inspect the sparkplugs,

I was surprised how much oil was under there, I am very careful
not to spill during oil changes , is it possible the cap leaks???

I had the same problem with finding oil accumulating under the plastic cover, problem solved by simply changing the oil cap gasket. Noticed the gasket was quite hard and brittle, probably not changed since new. I've followed someone else's suggestion by flipping it over in between replacements.

It's usually a combination of the two. A tired gasket would also leak more if there was too much crankcase pressure. Some folks replace the oil cap gasket regularly although I never have.

Speaking of crankcase pressure, it might help to check if the flame trap is clean. A clogged flame trap is known to be one of the causes for buildup of crankcase pressure resulting in oil leaks at the oil cap as well as the rear seal.

I removed the flame trap a month ago.

        thanks for all the tips
