As a public service I post this message on my trailer hitch research and final desition. From the four options avalable, Volvo, Draw Tite, DaLan and custom Fab I have chosen to have one custom fabricated. A local Welding shop who have done some work on Volvos in the past, in fact on V40s,had a template of the Volvo Hitch mounting points. They Quickly(ONE Afternoon) MAde the hitch and mounted it to the car! No Drilling. The reciever is the 2" square as recommended by the maker as it provides better stability than the 1". Price 275Can installed. I am quite happy with the workmanship and the appearance of the hitch. Any one interested the place is

Thanks for the feedback Yellowdog. Don't know when I'll be in your neck of the woods to see you shop.....but at least I will look into finding someone who can fabe a unit like you described.
