intermittent failure to start S70 1999

I just purchased a 99 s-70 used. About every tenth time I try to start it, the engine turns over, but then cuts off. After three or four attempts, it will then start. I only keep one key on the keychain, and the remote. Any suggestions?

intermittent failure to start S70 2000

I have a 2000 S70 and had a similar problem. The dealer claimed it was caused by oxidation on the contacts of the socket that connects to the Electronic Control unit. He sprayed contact cleaner on it and I havn't had the problem since. Could also be the key sensor ring problem folks talk about on here....

On my 200 S70 GT SE, I believe it is behind the Windshield washer resevoir fill tube. The dealer took care of it under warranty, so I havn't paid too close attention YET...
