Hey Bricksters,

I have looked on Edmunds.com and a couple of other web sites and have gotten mixed results.. i currently own a 88 760 the automatic has 3 gears plus overdrive. What type of transmission does the 850 have 4 gears and a overdrive or 3 like my 760 with an overdrive? I am thinking about purchasing a 94 850 Turbo that has recently had the air compressor/evaporator, brakes, some type of abs something, and timing belt replaced. The car has 150K on it. I have test drivin it but didnt think to think about the tranmission shifting.. I was just WOWED by the power and quietness of the engine. Anyone who responds I thank in advance!

Trans is like what you're use to, a 4 speed auto trans except that it's electronically controlled. The 760 trans is a 4 speed trans but definately a more "bullitproof" trans in comparison.
Now, in buying an 850T which isn't a bad car but might be more costly to keep alive, do check the color of the trans fluid and if it's not RED, either flush it yourself (Volvospeed.com/Bay13) or have it flushed ASAP as that's typically about the mileage where one can expect replacing that trans with a reman if the fluid's original (never or rarely changed).
The 760 has a better trans, no doubt.
