Single Relay/fuse related to SRS & Radio & Heater fan????? 850 1995

Hi,

I'm positive that the SRS light and the failure of radio and heater fan in my volvo is related to a relay/fuse that in some part of the wiring controls/protects all these three systems. However, where it is, and what it does look like.. is a mystery to me. In the haynes manual circuit diagrams, there's one relay called "Overload realy X+" (numbered 2/30 if you have the manual). Could anybody tell me where is that relay in the car? Any other ideas what might have triggered my SRS light and leaving radio and heater fan powerless at the same time?
Thanks a lot.

Single Relay/fuse related to SRS & Radio & Heater fan????? 850 1995

Hi all,

My problem is fixed. It was indeed the overload relay (2/30, relay 105 on Volvo microfiche). That particular relay controls power to : central lock, cigar lighter, radio, heater fan settings (1,2,3,4). In my case central lock system was working because the previous owner had an aftermarket lock and starter system installed. However, as soon as plugged in the relay, everything went back to normal and SRS light was reset. I thought you might want to know.

Hi,

I've got the following response from a fellow brick owner. I'll check into that tomorrow, and I'll post the result.

That relay, 2/30, controls power to the radio and heater low speeds. It is probably located with the fuses under the hood near the windshield. The problem could be the ground for that relay at 31/50. You will have to get a relay layout to learn which one it is. Seems like there should be something on one of the Volvo repair sites. Try Bay 13. Does anyone have a "Volvo" Electrical service manual?
This will be in interesting one. Please let us know what you find.
Good luck

Thanks for the input Tom,
To be honest I suspect those two, but I couldn't find the location of them. And I couldn't find how that would be related to the airbag. There are two more relays under the steering wheel but I'm not sure if they are the ones. And worse than that the Haynes manual says that there are some more behind the dashboard. If it is some of them I think I'll have some head stratching time. I think I'll go and ask for the fuse locations to my blood sucker dealer. I'll definitely post an update when I find the solution.
