trunk won't open S40-V40

I have a 2000 S40 and the trunk won't open. It appears to be a problem in the mechanism that unlatches the latch when you push in the button to open. I took the cover off the locking mechanism and the locks seem to work fine. Is there any way to get a diagram of the trunk latch. I suspect something broke off, but its hard for me to tell without knowing what it's supposed to look like when it's working.

there's a tech note S40-V40

There is a tech note pertaining to this complaint. It shows proper function of the trunk lock assembly. i'm sure your local dealer will provide it to you. I have given out a few

Steve

Forgive me if these seem to be simple questions.

Does the trunk not open when you push the button only?
Does the key fob unlock it?

Lastly, I found out that if you turn the key in the lock so the key slot points up and down and remove the key, the key fob won't work nor will pushing in the button.

Maybe you just turned the key in the lock into the up/down position and don't realize it.

Miker,

Oh how right you were. I looked right past the obvious and went straight for a major problem. Thanks, you saved me a trip to the dealer to look like an idiot.

Steve
