air intake/97 850 turbo 850

Can someone tell me what the plastic pipe is going from the middle top of the radiator to the throttle assemble. After trying to figure out why it wouldnt start and freezing my butt off at 20 below F, it appears that this pipe keeps collapsing under engine vacuum as if it were totally blocked.n When I break the connection, the car starts right off. Any thoughts? Thanks

That's the air intake hose from the intercooler. I woyuld guess that your intercooler is clogged/frozen up. moisture may have gotten in there, and froze.

Seems to be a common problem with these cars. My wifes car does the same thing.I have written a number of times about this. Moisture left inside the intercooler freezes up and blocks the air passage. Only solution I have found is to put a hair dryer thru the intercooler and dry everything up. This works for a while. I've tried volvo but they don't admit theres a design flaw.

        Thanks Chuck
