Instructions for changing transmission fluid (automatic). V70-XC70 1998

Hello all! Great forum. I just bought a 98 AWD Turbo V70. I am originally from Sweden so Volvos are special to me.

I need some help changing transmission fluids (automatic). The dealer quoted me $160, which will not happen! I do not have great experience with changing/flushing transmission fluid. I found only one page on this board and another on volvospeed, but I need some simpler instructions as I do not even know what half of the things in the descriptions are? Do any of you know where there are some step by step instructions with perhaps some pics?

Thanks,
Peter

Hey and welcome try to check out bay 13 which is in here various times and also www.volvospeed.com will ahve various information on fluid changes...It seems to be very easy and not at all worth spending 160.
Cheers

Another method...has anyone done this? V70-XC70 1998

I went to a specialty automotive tool store the other day and saw a cool device - fluid evacuator. Essentialy, a pump with a holding tank, it allows you to suck out all kinds of fluids - ATF, antifreeze, etc. Would this work on a tranny in a 1998 Volvo V70? Just curious, because this evacuator is not that expensive.
