syntetic oil vs. dino. Can I switch back and forth?

hi all! I was told once u put syntetic oil in the engine you can't go back to use dino ... if this statement is true ...Why?.
I allways used dino 10w-30 but in the last week the lifters in my 93 850 start making some noise , so I switch to syntetic moboil 1 at about 45 dls CND a little expensive .. thinking for the winter will be fine, and will switch to dino in summer .
My friend told me that was crazy with out any decent explanation ...

Sure you can switch back 'n forth....but er...why? The oils will be compatible, but I'm not sure you will get all the beni's of synthetic oil until all the oil crappy dino oil is out of the system.
