NEW V70 fwd problem V70-XC70 1998

Hello Folks ,
My wife is starting to think that I may be stupid.
We sold our 2000 jetta TDI to get a super nice V70 GLT.
We have had a few problems and she is almost to the point of wanting her Jetta back.
Anyway, I recently replaced the rear o2 sensor and now I have another code coming up. According to the guy at autozone Its a P0116 . Can anbody help me figure this out. car has 85,500 miles on it 2.5 turbo engine.

Thanks fig.

Does it seem to be running cool? V70-XC70 1998

the temp gauge is "normally" at dead center in the gauge.

    From the Brickboard archives...

You really, really, really need to have a tame Volvo shop to deal with these cars!

      Thank you for the reply.
I know that the car is running fine and seems to be normal. I have noticed that the heat guage does seem to stick in the cool area for a long time then jump up to read the actual temp. We also have noticed that the fans will run after the car is shut off . But, a I think that is normal. However, after the guage and fans I would perodically check the engine and it seemed to be running cool. I may have something as simple as another sensor bad .
Could sombody tell where it is?
      Thanks fig.

Your coolant temp sensor should be located somewhere under yout intake manifold towars the front of the engine.I've experienced a similar problem whereas the sensor being bad cause my idle to "suck" when the car was cold (30 deg f and lower.)When the the coolant temp rose, the idle improved. So if you have'nt done so already, replace the coolant temp sensor.

I don't know if you've solved this problem already, but I had the same problem with my 98 V70 - Code P0116. Mine was having the same problem, running cool and sometimes the cooling fan would run after I shut off the engine. I looked up the code in the Brickboard archives and found that the most likely cause was a stuck open thermostat. I changed it and since then, the engine warms up quickly and the temp is rock solid at the 3:00 position. I had the light reset and haven't seen the light come on again. It's a cheap easy fix, and the instructions are on Volvospeed Bay 13. I did not see a code for a faulty engine temp sensor, so I did not change it.
