Wrecked the 850, looking to buy V70 V70-XC70

We were planning on buying a V70 in few years, but on the way from having a brand new baby, I ended up rear ending a F350. Insuarance is calling it a complete loss, so now we have to get a wagon in hurry. Usaully spend a lot more time than a few days to research a car, so any advice from current former owners will be great, we thinking about going used. The 850 was a 1997 with 90K and very trouble free car, the other two vehicles are 1985 Alfa spider and a 1994 BMW R1100RS, and wife won't let me turn the rental in
