Buy a C70?? C70 1999

Just got back from the Volvo dealer selling a 99 C70 with 35K on it (coupe). Any warnings or words of advice? Should I do it???

I bought it! C70 1999

Thanks for the replies! I bought the 99 - black with grey leather. What a fun test drive! I can't wait to pick it up....now if I can just sell my 960...

I'm envious. C70 1999

Is envy green a color option? Would look nice with taupe leather.

Check out the clear headlight units on the 2003 model - they'll bolt right into the 99!

Congrats 97,

First things First.

I had my first battery failure [ away from home of course with daugher in car ] in 25 years of driving. If the battery is original in that 99 do yourself a big favor and install a Megatron MT-47 ASAP.

Use it in good health and Happy New Year!

I love mine.... love it love it love it!!!
It's got its problems, but either I've been lucky or they are right on the horizon. Either way, I'm getting an extended warranty to cover the issues which are bound to arise.

Built in a separate plant byTWR, I'm not sure the quality is quite up to, well, ahhhmmm, up to the "high standards" of the S70 and V70.

I'd buy it because....it's as close to a collector's edition brick for the 98-00 series as there will ever be. Only a few thousand have been sold, and the coupe was discontinued.

(My current strategy, if I stay with Volvo, is to get my wife a very late model, end of life 960/V90 then replace my S70 with a C70 coupe. I want to skip the current generation of S60's and it's derivative, uninspired, honey-I-shrunk-the-S80 design, and hope Volvo gets the S60 act together in a couple years.)

Well spoken, David. This one is a beaut. Black with grey leather, low miles at a great price. Time for a test drive!!!

Prettiest Volvo ever made, IMO..... C70 1999

...I mention the linked story out of the necessity for "full disclosure". I seem to remember some other threads about the C70. Try the archives.

Although the view out of the driver's seat is the same as it is from my wagon. Being a little lighter than the sedan or wagon, it should be a little faster, given the same engine, transmission, driver....

Cons :

Window Switches - Very weak design, two broke on me already
Window Regulators
Seat Levers
Heater Core
Recirc Mode Door Arm
Water Leaks From " A " Pillars
ABS Controllers
AC Evaporator
Upper Motor Mount
Any Leaks - Coolant, Motor Oil, Tranny
Front End Clunks
Headlights - make sure Recall was done
Check Inside For Any Water Damage or Evidance

Pros -

Driving Nirvana
Make Excuses Just To Go For A Drive
Perfect Blend Of Luxury And Performance
One Kick Ass Sound System

Just check those problems I listed above as these are the cars
weak points.
