door stop bracket failure S70 1998

I was wondering if anyone has experienced a failure of the spot welds which secure the bracket for the door stop assembly. This happened to me recently. My shop says the only way to fix it is to remove the kick panel and re-weld. Any help will be appreciated.

not that you'll read this since it is an older post. mine did the same thing on the driver's side. took it in to a body shop and after three welds (multiple visits to the shop) it stayed.

Your shop is correct. Its a VERY well known problem....just take it to a shop/dealer that does only Volvos.....and they *should* know all about it!
