Front end clunking over bumps V70-XC70

OK 98 V70R AWD--when going over bumps in the road it sounds like loose brake pads and not a serious type of clunking from the front end. Is this the sway bar link syndrom? My car has 75K on it!

    Sounds like swaybar end links to me but could also be the strut mounts. When my end links needed replacing it would not make the noise when going around corners because the swaybar was under load. Try going around a bumpy curve and see if you still hear it.

    no...it is your strut bushing. around 24-27 dollars each. just change them and you'll be ok.
