S70 Wind Noise HELP

I have recently purchased a 99 S70ASR. The first time I drove the car was over 50mph I experienced this tremendous wind noise from roof. I returned car to dealer who test drove car and told me this was normal on all S70. I find this hard to believe and was hoping some of you S70 owners could comment.

S70 Wind Noise HELP

Do a search on this topic and you will see plenty of postings.

One of the best suggestions involves putting tape over seams and trim until the noise goes away.

I have three 850s and one makes a noise near the top of the driver's door, the other two have ventvisors on them, they are quiet.

S70 Wind Noise HELP

Go back to the dealer and ask to have a service tech(DO NOT talk to anyone in sales)drive in the car with you the hear the noise. If he still says its normal.....ask to drive a few other S70's on the lot and see if the noise is "normal"......because its not! My sun roof has never made any wind noise from day one to 30K miles.....where I am at now.

S70 Wind Noise HELP

I'd ask the dealer to check technical service bulletins. There
is one issued for 98s on this (TSB 8840024). You can also get some
weird noise with a strong cross wind (but I've only heard this
twice in 5 years and for short periods of time).

Here is the TSB content with serial numbers (but, I must
say I find it confusing and I'm not sure if you can determine if
your car is included from this):

Noise may be heard on cars with an integrated upper windshield molding. The noise can be reduced if a weatherstrip is installed between the windshield molding and the car body. The weatherstrip will be included with new windshield. A self-adhesive molding has introduced into production from chassis number end points listed below. The weatherstrip can be used on cars within the following chassis numbers and on older cars which have had windows replaced for new versions.

Model Factory Chassis No.

S70 1 599542-628460

S70 2 598673-628460
