Trying again as I had no luck on the S70 Board.

Hi Folks,

The door lock knob is stuck in the down position. The solenoid seems to work, as I hear the noise and it tries to pull the knob down, plus it locks the door (passenger) so that it cannot be opened from the outside. It appears like some mechanical problem. Any experience with a similar problem. I guess, I gotta take the door panel off and mess around with it. Thanks in advance for any hints.

I have the same problem on my V70- 01. I've heard it's a software problem. I've been told to remove the fuse for door lock for a couple of minutes. Try that, maybe it will work.

The solenoid in the door is working, unfortunately, the plastic piece it actuates to unlock the door is broken. And, the door locks are serviced as a complete unit. Disassembly and repair is not an option. You have to replace the affected lock/latch assembly.

JUST did my drivers side rear door 4 weeks ago on my 98 V70R! Amazing on the amount of recent failures! Sounds like they planned failure just in time for the holidays--$90 for the assembly withvolvo club discount---labor at home, about 45 minutes soup to nuts! Enjoy!

Yep, gotta replace the assembly. had the same problem happen with mine.
