Release of Volvo's proprietary codes 850 1997

Does anyone out there know if Volvo has gone ahead and released its non-emission codes that California is forcing all car manufacturers to do beginning January 2003? Am waiting for some OBD-II dealer to incorporate all the additional codes in their diagnostic software (including resetting the service light) before buying it.

i have the OBD-2 scanner from www.obd2.com and it will reset both check and service engine lights, but it requires a laptop computer to hook up to.

I'm curious, do you have a url handy about that? News to me.

I'd guess that even new OBD2 scanner software might not help you read any more codes with an older car as Volvo made it so that only a bare minimum amount of info (required by the feds) would be readable through generic scan tools.
If there's any new federal OBD2 software related regulations, I'd think that it'd only effect new cars, not be retroactive to older cars as that might not be possible. Just my opinion.
