The doughnut spare has begun to fall apart. In retrospect, it lived a long and good life seeing as how it saw almost as many miles as the Pirelli POS's that came on the car. I am having a hard time finding a replacement other than the dealer that wants $250. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Had the same problem 6 mos. ago. Dealer wanted $278 for new one. Got one in new condition for $38 from Volvo scrap dealer.

I have read recently on the board that Ford Taurus/Sable wheels/tires have the same bolt pattern and offset as our 850's. Try picking up a full size spare at a junk yard. For that matter, you might be able to grab a full size Volvo wheel at a yard, too.

Unless you can get a good deal on a donut, do yourself a favor and grab a full size. I haven't checked, but I believe a full size spare will fit in the spare wheel well.
