remote start 850

I'd love to install a remote start in my '94 850 turbo wagon. It's damn cold in the mornings. Anyone done it? Is this a DIY project? Which alarm/ remote starter manufacturer(s) have you used? We've got keyless entry.

thanks in advance

remote start

I installed one on my wife's '94 855 na during the summer. It IS nice! I got it at Wally World on clearance for $35. It is a Bulldog brand, and had a installation video with it. It has general instructions, but you go on their website for the specific diagrams for each car. The bad thing is that the diagram was wrong, and I had to kinda "trial and error" it. Finally I got it right, but it took nearly five hours (it wires in under the dash at the steering column)! I have a couple of issues with it, but overall, it is really cool. I can start up from a LONG way off.

Drive safely,
Rick

Do you have the factory alarm installed? If so, was there any difficulty associated with it? That is, can you start the car without first disabling the alarm? Do you have remote door control also with the Bulldog remote?

The Volvo factory alarm only activates if the doors are locked with the remote and unlocked withOUT using the remote.. Putting the Key in the ignition and trying to start it. There is a starter cutoff and the Alarm (horn) and lights will start to flash.

So with the keyless entry (my opinion) the doors are still locked when the engine is started so I think it will work. Just use the remote entry to get in and insert the key in the ignition and you should be good to go.
