reading computer codes 850 1995

hello all, im an 18yr old volvo user , i baught a volvo 850 GLE (automatic trans) with 80,000Km

i need to know how to read the codes, ive seen a link to a geocite site but i didnt understand weel waht should i do,
excuse me but im not an english native speaker and dont know the name of parts in english, but i can undersand when i read them.

the reason for this is that 2 weeks ago the volvo service shop change for me valve head or something , coz the transmition was not ingaging the 2nd gear, i payed for it ~1000$. yeterday i was driving and sudenly the car was slow to move from still and the arrow was flashing( iread its something about locked at 3rd gear) i turned it off then on 2 times then everything went ok.
i called the service and they told me its maybe moist on the wires.
but i need to read the codes that the computer stored and interpret them , any help is appreciated.
and any advice on caring for trans or other important things i should know.

note: im a power driver and sometimes i feel taht i over stress the car like fast takeovers and things like that ( when u trie to pass from behind a slow moving car :)) and i shift a lot (or i feel that) between D and 3

A common transmission problem is the PNP switch. Read about
it here:

http://volvospeed.com/Repair/pnpswitch.htm

More then one Volvo has had the transmission replaced when this was
the problem. Make sure your mechanic knows about the PNP switch.
The mechanic who repaired the PNP switch on my 1995 GLT had already done
20 PNP replacements.

It is possible that the contacts on the ignition switch are dirty. Try spraying some WD40 into the ignition switch (electrical portion, not the mechanical part) and turn on anf off the key a few times. This may cure the problem short term, but if the switch is faulty it will probably have to be changed later.

reading computer codes

123 LH rear wheel sensor-faulty signal at speed less then 25 mph
142 Faulty stop light switch, open cicuit or short circuit
213 LH rear wheel sensor-no signal when moving off
214 RH rear wheel sensor-no signal when moving off
311 LH front wheel sensor-open circuit or short circuit

My guess about the 322 code my mean that your transmission wasn't in the correct gear for the speed that the car was traveling at. It would seem that all four wheel sensors are not sending the correct signal to the ECU of the transmission to signal it to shift properly. If your car was accelerating slowly, then the transmission didn't downshift when it should have. If your car accelerates quickly and the RPMs are high, then the transmission didn't upshift to the next gear. Again, just a guess.

Good luck
