Weird hood latch issue S70 1998

Went to jump a stranded car the other day and noticed that my hood doesn't quite open right. If I pull the release in the cabin it only releases the passenger side. I need to get someone to put light pressure on the driver side (upwards) while I pull the latch (in the cabin) again to get the driver side to release, then it goes up just fine.

Any ideas? (Already tried WD-40 on the latch mechanism)
Thanks...

If you look at the release latch under the hood (driver's side) you will see there are different locations for the cable/rod to attach. I adjusted mine to a tighter position, which helped.

your not alone......I have seen this on quite a few s/v/c/70's. On mine it does it about 50% of the time, and what i have to do is either just pull the release a few more times, or lift up just a bit on the hood, and then give the release one more pull. As long as I can open my hood with out needing another person there I am fine.
