Crazy Codes 850 1994

Yesterday I replaced a PVC pipe and the PNP switch for the transmission. Replaced a lot of vac lines too. Car runs very rough, rpm's go up and down as if the engine hunting. It will not idle without dying. It will drive and more power smooths it out. To keep it going foot must be on the gas. RPMs must be above 1500.

Checking codes in the A2 socket I got(engine management) and I got 451 and 543. These codes do not show up in Haynes or anywhere else. Any ideas what these mean?

I am 100 miles from any dealer. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Crazy Codes 850 1994

By any chance did you pull out the spark wire cables to replace the vacuum lines.. If you put the wrong wires to the wrong cylinders it will cause the engine to run extremely rough like you described. Double check the firing pattern.

A post on or around 10/6 listed a technical data book with all codes explained, plus lots of other information:

    Pocket Data Booklet

    $15.95

    Good luck!

    Misfire Codes 850 1994

They're both misfire codes. 451 is a misfire in #1 cyl and other just confirms it (general misfire code).
Re-check all the hoses, vac lines, etc that you worked with before if it was running OK before as something's not connected correctly, if at all. The misfire codes could be caused by a major vacuum leak which is what it sounds like from your description.
