Front Door Stop 850 1997

The door stop on my driver's side door broke inside the door. After removing the broken one which was fairly simple, I am having a terrible time trying to install the new one. There is a slight difference between the two (old one had two bolts inserted from outside the door frame - the new one has the bolts as in integral part of the unit and requires nuts to be used outside) but not sure this is the problems.

The unit consists of the rollers (inside the door) and the arm (attached to the frame). It appears that they must be put in separately but I can't make that happen.

Can anyone make a suggestion?

Thanks

    Hi
This happened to me also about 6 weeks ago. You will have to take off the door swab (interior trim) and wriggle it into position. I seem to remember that it went in when I turned it 90 degrees to the right and once the goes through the hole, straighten it up and it goes all the way home. be sure to use some "nut lock" on the threads, or they will keep loosening, and possibly damage the door frame.

    Good luck

      Pat,

Thanks for the response. I did finally get the door stop in. I could not do it the way you described because the two bolts are now part of the spring unit (the old spring unit had the nuts attached). Because the bolts were now sticking straight out from the unit I could not wiggle it into position through the small opening in the door. I took it apart and put the spring unit in first and then inserted the arm - very difficult way of doing it.

It would have been a lot simpler if they left the bolts separate.

      Thanks anyway.

      JoeG
