Check Engine Light S70 1998

Hi all:
During start up, check engine light comes on and stays on for about TWO minutes. What do I check and could this light be re-set?
Denny

Denny it's your service interval lamp it lights up everd few thousand miles or so, it doesn't mean there's something wrong. Turbo models this happens every 5000 miles or so. it's so you have to go back to the dealer and have your car check out. Or just get your self an OBD2 code reader and reset the light using that tool your self.

The check engine lamp comes on any time a fault codes has been stored of a fault that can affect the emmisions standards of the car. The only way to read the code is to have a Volvo scan tool (Dealership) do it for you. Find the fault code, fix the fault, lamps goes off.

Is this the Check Engine or the Service light? Both have
to be reset by the dealer on 98s.

A check Engine light should be investigated to determine the
cause of the problem (Check Engine normally does not turn off).

The service light is just a reminder to have the car serviced
and does not indicate a problem.

IPD sells tools to turn off the Service Light. www.ipdusa.com.

Most people just ignore the Service Light (assuming they service
the car themselves -- don't ignore service).
