My keys don't come out! Please Help

Hi,

My 854 doesn't wnat to give the key back. After my wife ran over a curb (I don't know if there are any relation with this incident), we came home and parked the car. However, the key is stuck in the ignition. It doesn't come out as if the transmission is not in the park. I don't know what to do. I locked the car with the second key but the other one is still in there. Please help.

There's a cable that runs between the shifter and the ignition switch to keep the key from being removed until it's in park so if the shifter is in park yet the ignition switch won't go back to its 0 position, one will need to remove the center console and inspect the cable at the shifter.

The cable is black, outer sheath about 3/16" diameter. Attaches to the shifter on the right side. Once you get the console out, look at the right side of the shifter and work the key back and forth, you will spot the cable and the parts that move with the cable. If the button on the shift knob does not snap back into place after engaging park, the cable won't release enough to let the key come out. Also, the cable end at the shifter has an adjuster on it. I have seen the cable pulled out of the ign lock at the column slightly by the telescoping of the column. Check that end to make sure it's seated. Just snaps in to place.

Hi, Thanks for the info.

One night after the key stuck in ignition it came off on itself actually. I was just about to open the console on sunday but it came off on saturday night. I'll look into it next weekend however. Thanks a lot.
