93 850 stalls in car wash 850 1993

I have a 93 850 with 144k miles on it. Recently I took it to a drive thru car wash and as the underspray started, my car began to shudder, all the dash warning lights came on and it almost stalled out. I accelerated and it stuttered and then began running normally. Then a few days ago in a very heavy rain I experienced the same thing.

Something under the hood isn't reacting well to water, what could the problem be?

Thanks

StryGuy is correct. This is an ignition problem, not an accessory drive belt problem.

Think about the accessory drive belt--what does it do. It uses friction to turn the power steering, the alternator and the air conditioner. If it slips and your power steering pump doesn't work, you don't have power steering; but that shouldn't be a concern in the car wash. If the belt slips and your air conditioning compressor doesn't turn, you lose air conditioning. If the belt slips and your alternator doesn't turn, your car will continue to run off the battery; that's why people kill batteries and find out that it was the alternator.

Change all the parts StryGuy suggested and it will solve your problem.

I can't see how an accessory belt would cause engine sputtering. This is a problem between the battery and the plugs I would almost be 100% certain of it.

Rotor, Distributor, and a new set of wires should take care of that problem. While you're at it you might as well change the plugs.

And I'll bet once you remove that distributor and rotor you'll find a crack or some signs of water.
