External Temperature Reading at -40 degrees 400 1995

I have a 1995 M reg 440 CD Turbo. The external temperature reading on the dashboard has just begun to read -40 degrees constantly. Has anyone had this problem before and know how to fix it? Where is the sensor located?

The sensor is in the front bumper in front of the intercooler.

Most likly that it's duff by the sounds of things.

I'm breaking my '93 440 Turbo if you want a sensor.
