ECU upgrade S70

Anyone have any experience with the ECU upgrade products? I own a 99 S70 GLT and a 98 V90. The prices for the 99 seem to be PES at $600 up to $900 from other vendors. I can't find anything for the 98.

My understanding is that one should go with a vendor that has good programming experience since these chips are mapped for high performance. They all say I can increase hp from 193 to 230.

Thanks for your help.

ECU upgrades on non-turbo / non-supercharged cars are really not upgrades at all. The changes often sacrafice low end torque for higher HP, etc. In several mod magazines they tested chips which claimed a 10 or 14 hp increase at certain RPMs. While their claims were true the hp/torque curve of the performance chip compared to the OEM chip showed times when the OEM chip had 10 or 14hp more than the performance chip. They did 0-60 testing and showed that out of 10 performance chips made for the V8 mustang 6 actually INCREASED! 0-60 times and actually only one was able to knock 1/10th of a second off 0-60.

In turn they showed adding low restriction air filters and cold air intakes would consistently increase HP with one of the largest increases from low restriction exhaust.

I assume the 98 V90 is not a turbo motor like your 99. Turbo's are
easy to chip (just add boost for more power) so most chips focus on the
turbo engines. IPD sells the TME upgrade and they have a good
reputation (IPD and TME). See www.ipdusa.com and www.tme.com.

Thanks. The V90 is not a turbo. but there are chips available for other non-turbo vehicles (BMW, Saab). I just can't seem to find one for the V90.
