Roof weather stripping 850

Having read the queries and answers from Mike on Sept, 19, has anyone tried glueing the rubber back onto the chrome/aluminum, if so what did you use and was it a success? I have the problem on my newly aquired '96 850 wagon, on the driver side only.
Thanks in advance,
The Bear

I tried glues, epoxies also. Finally gave up, sanded and used Tremclad. Cannot tell difference.

I bought a used 93 and it looks like someone put black electrical tape on. Not too bad for a quick fix.

I tried various glues, including superglue but eventually the vinyl/plastic material cracks and chips off.

I cleaned all the material off, used scotch brite to prep the metal surface and sprayed on about 3 coats of trim paint. Looks great! I got the paint at an Auto Body supply house. It comes in Qts, and spray cans

I just gave up glueing etc and bought a pair at $125 each.
Now I was wondering if anybody knows the best protectant etc. to use on these. I want these to last a bit longer.

I have used the tennis racket tape, the stuff to protect the top of the racket. I now have the only white "gamma" clad roof strips on the 850.
