The AC evaporator was replaced 18 months ago. I have only had car for 2 months. There is an unpleasant smell from AC for the first minute or two. Where do i get a deodorizer? Where do I put it? Thank you

Time will tell if it is really better. I found the interior cabin air filter under the passenger side cowl. It was 3 years old and very dirty. I jumped on the freeway at rush hour and Turner Volvo parts in Sacramento was willing to stay open until I got there. I asked a sales person where the AC system drains the condensation so I could see if its clogged. Very helpful sales person took me to talk to a tech in the shop and 15 minutes later i had a free half bottle of deodorizer and some knowledge about system, possible problems and solutions. Chalk one up for the delaer being helpful. FYI the filter is 18 dollars.

I don't know if your car was equipped with it or not (My 98 S70 is), but I had the same problem. Turned out to be the pollen filter was all moldy. It is located just under the front cowl under the windshield in the engine compartment. All incoming cabin air must go through it.

It's overpriced for a paper filter at about $25 but the manual does say to change it every 10k if you're in an area with exceptionally dirty air (aren't we all?) It does seem to help in mine. Also make sure the evaporator drain is unplugged.

I know that there is a retrofit kit avaliable for the cabin air filter, you can get it somewhere around on the internet. If memory serves me correctly it's am OEM part.

There's a product called "fridgy fresh" sold at auto parts stores that helps. One has the car running, AC on in fresh air mode (NOT recirc) and sprays into the right side of the front cowl area where the fresh air enters.
