forgive me if this question has been asked before, but I've searched the best I can and come up empty.

About a month ago, my rear wiper on my '95 850 Turbo Wagon started operating extremely slooowwwwlyyyy!
The other day it stopped working altogether. I suspect the motor was on it's way out and has now pretty much run out of gas? I was able to help it along to get it back to the resting position, so there is still some sort of life in it (ruling out a relay or fuse?). My question is, does this sound like a new motor, or might I revive it by taking it apart and lubricating it? My dealer has said it's a fairly expensive repair ($200+) to replace the motor, so I'd rather take a crack at it myself if it is the motor. How difficult is the replacement? I've heard taking apart the tailgate trim is a little tricky as the clips usually break off.

Any good source for used/aftermarket rear wiper motors.

I imagine this must be a recurring problem with the 850's. Any info would be appreciated.

    Hopefully the cheap fix people mentioned will work. In the event you need a new (used) motor, check out www.volvosaabparts.com, www.newandusedvolvoparts.com, and www.erievovo.com (no typo). Hopefully in that case you could get a new/used motor for a decent price, and it shouldn't be too hard to install yourself.

    Hi,

    Had the same problem last year. Turned out that the plastic cylinder going through the glass (or through rubber bushing rather) had cracked letting water and dirt get to the shaft. Took trim off tailgate and unscrewed entire assembly with motor and linkage. Had to use a hammer to get the shaft out of the assembly but lubricating worked perfectly. reassembled with new plastc cylinder. Hard part was getting tailgate trim off and on. I had to buy a couple of new clips (cheap).

    Had a similar problem. Fixed by taking the motot out and took the shaft out and lubricate. Quite easy to do since the shaft is fix by only a little clip. Tailgate trim will then be fix for $15.00

    I'm not sure about the 855, but when I had my 945, We had some snow a few years ago and I bent the shaft coming through the glass. I too was able to "park" the wiper with a little help and I thought the motor had gone lazy, but when I took it apart, I found my problem. If you can, take off the trim (see bay 13) and have a closer look before you part with your hard earned cash.
