98 v 70r that has a fluter noise coming from under neith the car only heard when the engine is under load like going up hill ....sounds like a exahst leak do these models leak in a certain place ...i know its not the lifter problem ... i brought it to my dealer and they could not figure it out ..in fact they wouldnt even admit my car for repairs any ideas or past experiences ???

    Ford--my 98 V70R AWD does the EXACT same thing! I posted about 2 months ago here with no imput! I have tried high octane gas, looked for exhaust leaks etc to no avail! I still get that "twidery" noise under load between 20 and 50 MPH!

      hey masher you know the tech did mention that it might be the bafles in the mufler ??? do you have an aftermarket mufler ??? if you do and it still makes that noise then it something else .... i wonder if the xc also have that problem

        NA-I still have the factory system and its very solid! Why then under different modes of acceleration do I still hear the same consistent flutter? I think the techie is "stretching" a little! It does make me a little coookie as the car otherwise would be nice a quiet! Then again it is a "valvo"!!

          yo masher dude ..i took off the cover over the exahst by the turbo and started checking for loose nuts and i found some by on the turbo ...the pipe that goes in to or from ?? the exast ...3 nuts or bolts ??that hold the pipe to the turbo closr to the fan turbine side ..the bottom one was tight but the top 2 where kinda loose .......the sound is still there but its not as loud ..i wonder if theres a gasket or some thing that got fried ????? got to check on that at the shop

            its a Ford-let me know how ya make out! If its a gasket problem then it will prompt me to get the car on ramps and dig a little deeper. Ohh my ach'in back!
