Brake squeeeeeal 850

My brakes were squealing so I had the rotors and pads replaced with new. They still squeal at a certain light pedal pressure and it is driving me nuts. Is there a lotion of some sort or any suggestions as to how to quiet up these brakes.

Thanks in advance.

When I was using stock Volvo pads, I didn't have any squeal but tons of dust. I have now replace my rotors (Zimmerman) and have PBR deluxe front pads and Axxis rear pads. I used a liberal amount of anti squeal compound (blue and sticky stuff) that I purchased at Kragen auto parts (Any parts store will have something similar. The compound is applied to the BACK of the pads, NOT on the rotor surface side. I do now have some squeal from the front pads when apply the brakes the first 2-3 times in the morning. After that, no squeal and very little brake dust and similar braking performance compared to stock pads. I'm happy with the compromise.

Volvo brake parts or after-market parts?

Proper use of brake grease as described at

http://www.volvospeed.com/maintence.htm#BW

typically solves these problems. I understand newer Volvo
rear brake pads have a new shim design, too (that is included with
them and applicable to older cars). Where the shims used on
the rears?

Having said all that, I have OEM parts and they squeel a bit when cold.
Once warmed up, no squeel. Any of your problems related to temperature?

Is it the front brakes, rear brakes, or both?

BTW be careful breaking those rotors in =)
